Palm has launched their Latest Treo 750

Palm has launched their latest piece, the Treo 750 Smartphone in India. You may think it’s just another Treo till you realize it doesn’t run on the ever popular Palm OS, but Windows Mobile. What they’ve done is opened the doors to consumers who could be Palm users for the first time and introduced them to the sophistication of the Palm Treo form factor and the versatility of Windows mobile.

The Treo 750 is not yet ready with Windows Mobile 6, since these are the initial stages of this collaboration. But we were informed it would be available for download shortly with no specific dates provided. The 750 is EDGE and 3G enabled with a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth with A2DP compatibility, Infrared and USB connectivity. The full QWERTY keypad offers shortcuts to applications and Palm and Microsoft have merged their OS and design in a seemingly efficient manner we can say with the short test we were allowed to conduct. Equipped with Windows Pocket PC applications you can view all MS documents and PDF files as well.

"Over 5 million Treo smartphones today are being used by companies and individuals around the world, and continuing to expand the Treo footprint is a key focus for Palm," said Sharon Ee, Head of Business, South Asia, for Palm, Inc. "India is an important market for Palm, and Treo smartphones are well poised to meet the growing demand by Indian consumers who want a compelling mobile-computing experience."

The Treo 750 is equipped with a 312mhz, Samsung processor. Unfortunately it has no Wi-Fi capability, but that option is available through a third party provider through a miniSD card that can be purchased separately. The inbuilt memory is 60MB with expansion capability through the same miniSD card slot. The 2.5 inch TFT Touchscreen sports a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels with 65K colors
At the moment it’s being offered through Palm’s tie up with Airtel but is available over the counter as well. If purchased with an Airtel subscription, the first month’s data subscription is free. As of now the Treo 750 is also available with a collapsible Bluetooth keyboard worth around Rs. 5,000. The Treo 750 is available for Rs. 26,990 and should be hitting stores by next week.
